No supports needed. Glue in magnets so that the Plate model and the Base model repel each other. Then slide the Plate down the shaft and then and filament spool on top and you're good to go! If you want to stack spools vertically, glue the adapter into the top of the Base shaft and then print out another base and plug the top of the adapter into the bottom of the base. See pictures.
