Descrição

An OpenSCAD file for creating variable sized sheets of interlocked rings in the European weave pattern.

I've had this file for months waiting for my printer to get working/tune and have decided to go ahead and let people see it, and work with it - instead of continuing to wait.

This project was inspired by Bill20r3's conversation with me about chain-mail. (HI! BILL!)

(V4 because this is the internal version number I was using for tracking things on my computer while I was writing this.)

This is not associated with any another 'chainmail' project already on thingiverse and was written/developed independently. I've not looked at their code. I do find that 'cupped/bent rings' are an elegant solution to a nasty problem for ring printing, but hate 'not round rings' as chainmail - the cloth flow is wrong.

Instruções

Please read the //comments in the OpenSCAD file to see what parameters can be adjusted and what they effect.

I have NOT printed this object yet. Please, if you try to work with this, let me know if you have issues with printing and what they are.. or if it goes well.

You might need to adjust the STL file print properties, or perhap is to make your own from the OpenSCAD file to optimize the print ability/quality.

You might need support material.

You can adjust rings closer together so they can act as supports for other rings, you will need a sharp blade to separate them.

I have plans on adding optional 'flattened rings' and 'swelled ring with rivet' marking..

Also I am modding an old formula from an old excel spreadsheet which I used to calculate rings for a coif and a plan on translating that into OpenSCAD so an entire coif can be printed at one go with idler rings and expansion rings. (Expansion and Idler rings allow you to increase or decrease the size of a tube or a sheet into different shapes.)

We'll see how well that goes, eh?
