This is a project using parts from an old lamp. There's an image of the Donor-lamp in the list above. The lamp had a few "goose necks" and cost about 10$ on sale, at a big box. The idea was to use these goose-necks to hold tools on a work surface.
First, remove the light fixtures and pull out the wires. Take off the stand. All that remains is the goose-necks and the metal ring where they are all attached.
Second, make a small platform from scrap wood or drill a hole in your desk. You'll need a 3/8" bolt with two washers and a nut.
Next, 3D print the "helpingHands.stl" file, then attach the goose-neck base to the 3D printed support (or workbench).
Finally, start developing your own set of custom tool holders for the ends of the goose-necks. Maybe a camera holder or some wire spools, solder, alligator clamps, LED light, magnifying glass, a fan; whatever helps.
You can use the hollow center of the goose-necks to run USB power, air lines or even a vacuum line. Anything really. The holes in the wooden platform are for additional holders or maybe a cut-out for a parts tray...
Have fun!
