Descrição
metaPixel is a simple, modular WS2812 LED-strip base LED panel. Each module contains 20 LEDs in a 4x5 grid behind a printed diffusor.
The modules are connected by D-SUB high power connectors. Magnets on the sides of the modules add stability to the connection.
I have used black ABS for the boxes and clear colorfabb XT for the diffusor foil.
Autodesk Fusion archives and STEP files are included in the zip archive.
controlled by a Teensy 3.1 using the FastLED library.
Instruções
For each module, you will need:
- 1 x Diffusor + Grid either a full transparent (single piece) or glued together from grid and foil.
- 1 x Cover
- 1 x Box (there a 5 different versions differing in the position of the connectors)
- 3 x D-SUB, High Power jack
- 3 x D-SUB High Power plug
- 4 x round magnets 3x3
- 4 x round magnets 4x3
- 3 to 6 x ring magnets 6/2,2
- 4 x magnets 5x8
- 20 x WS2812 LED from a 60LED/m strip.
- wires
- glue to fixate the magnets and to glue the translucent diffusor to the opaque grid (if used)
For the full display you'll need a sufficient 5V power supply and a custom programmed controller. A commercial controller will not work as expected because the LED layout changes with each metaPixel row (see CableLayout MetaPixel.pdf).
##Building a Box:
- mark the same pole on all magnets with a marker. This will save a lot of work. In is merely impossible to remove a false positioned magnet after it is glued in.
- glue in all the magnets use the CableLayout-MetaPixel.pdf as a reference.
