Protect your home with your own Defender Drone Replica!

After seeing the movie Oblivion, first thing I said was "I want one of those drones!". That weekend I modeled one for fun based on some pictures I found online. The model turned out so well I figured I could cut it up into printable sections, so I did!. Its not exactly the same as the movie one, but close enough for me. Download and print your own!

Print out the following: (No Supports Required)

Main Body Left
Main Body Right
Main Engine Cone
Drone Face
2 x Linkage (seriously, no supports needed, I was surprised!)
2 x Outer Gun Section
2 x Inner Gun Section
2 x Small Engine Ring

I had an issue with the main body sections peeling up, I recommend wiping your bed with acetone and making sure to let it heat up sufficiently before you start printing. Even then I had a tiny bit of curling around the face. Some filament dissolved in acetone can be used as a filler to close any gaps along the seam.

Remove the small support block on the main body sections inside the face hole.

-I recommend first attaching the two main shells together with superglue. There are small holes you can stick a tiny piece of filament into, to assist in the lining up the sides.
-Then glue on the main engine and small engine rings.
-Then glue on the linkages being careful to keep them lined up.
-Then glue the outer gun sections onto the linkages (after ensuring the inner Gun section will slide in of course, keeping the inner sections separate during this stage allows you to look through the body to ensure each side is lined up.
-Then glue in the inner sections.
-Finally for the face, I drilled a small hole and inserted a tiny piece of red filament for the red eye. Sand it down to make the color stand out. And glue the face into the front of the model.

I have also included a nice display stand that holds the drone. Perfect for your desk!
