This puzzle is similar to the rubik's cube and is currently massed produced and can be purchased from the producer, Meffert's. However I wanted to design a smaller, flat faced version. It also has a different mechanism than the massed produced version. It should work perfectly in theory, though finding the right size screw might take some work. I could always add pins that you could just glue in place if anyone wants. I also split two of the parts in half because of overhang problems. This way it should be able to be printed without support material, and then the two halves would have to be glued together.

Unfortunately I don't really know how to orient the pieces, so hopefully you guys can do that yourselves.

With that being said I hope someone attempts to make this, and I am sorry ahead of time if it doesn't work

Edit 1) 4/21/11: Changed the instructions to make it more clear.

Print all of the parts included in the part list first. on both the edge and the corner the part is split into two pieces to account for overhang. You must first glue these pieces together. The edge pieces should be interchangeable, but the corner pieces need to be placed so they make a nice uniform triangular-like prism.

Finally, find a screw that fits through the center pieces freely, but can be screwed securely into the core file into the 4 designated holes. Once all of the Centers are in place it is a matter of placing the edges in between two centers and the corners in between three edges. It is very similar to assembling a Rubik's cube, which I recommend searching for a video of if you are having difficulty.

It isn't really a puzzle without color on it, but it could still be fun to play with.
