This is simple backup solution for hikers, survivalists, and anyone wanting an emergency fishing setup on the trail. The entire storage case measures just 14 by 7 by 3 centimeters. It is lightweight, making it an easy and unobtrusive addition to almost any ultralight backpack.

Inside the case, you will find the components needed to assemble your rod, including a reel, line guides, and a specially designed float. There is also dedicated space left over to store your hooks and a couple of small lures. To complete the rig out in the wild, simply find a sturdy branch to act as the rod and use small zip ties to secure the printed parts. Note that the float for this kit is an earlier design of mine, which you can find among my other uploads under the name 'Bobber Pro – Easy Clip-On float'.

There are a few important details to keep in mind when assembling the kit. Start by permanently securing the two flat, round reel plates together with a drop of superglue. Once dry, spool your preferred length of fishing line onto the reel, attach a snap swivel to the end, and tuck it into the bottom of the box.

The reel handle is a print-in-place, two-part mechanism. After printing, gently check that the top and bottom sections are not fused and can rotate freely. When you attach this handle to the main reel body, note that it is designed with a reverse thread and must be screwed on counter-clockwise.

Mounting the reel base to your chosen branch is done using a zip tie. You will notice that the zip tie channel on the reel mount points straight up on one side, which differs from the side-facing channels on the regular line guides. Ensure this upright side faces the reel plate so the zip tie does not obstruct the spinning reel. Finally, the included line guides are modeled with gradually decreasing clamping circumferences, allowing them to firmly grip the branch as it naturally tapers toward the tip.
