Got in a mode to do a weekend project so here ya go, another rolling ball sculpture! This one is over 200mm tall! woo! it's towering it's colossal, it's well, less than 8 inches tall. But, ain't it cute?! Shrug, I think it is. Maybe it's a child only a moth... father could love (I'm not a mother). If I got a tattoo that said mother, I still wouldn't be a mother. Mothers are wonderful tho we probably wouldn't be here without them. I love my mother, btw. When I was younger I didn't like her very much, tho, she spanked me all of the time, but looking back yeah it was probably my fault. BTW, she hasn't spanked me in a long time but I still probably deserve one now and then. shrug. No, I mean like last time I was spanked was when I was a toddler not like minutes or hours ago - you people! I guess I could print this sculpture for her for mother's day? shrug?
Anyway, this sculpture is designed to use pee-wee type glass marbles! How big are pee-wee marbles? About 10mm if my micrometer's battery is working right. Hey SwirlingBrain, I put a one inch marble on it and it didn't work! You don't say! Hey Swirl, I put a cats eye on it and it didn't work! Ewe gross! Hey Swirl, I put a BB on it and it fell through! You don't say! Hey Swirl, my mother put an elephant on it and it crushed it! Yeah figures! Hey,, wait, where did your mother get the Elephant? She didn't say? Yeah, OK. Yeah, pee-wee marbles. Hey Swirl, when I printed it, and put a marble on it, it exploded and it poked my eye out and gave me the hives and I can't tolerate the prickly heat anymore and even after listening to Dr. Edward Taylor's telethon of love, I'm still going through expensive therapy? Yeah, 3d print and use at your own risk!
Does it work? I don't know. I'm currently 3d printing it right now. I'm hopeful and fairly sure it will work but I figure I'll probably find some issues, in the closet or under my bed. Does anyone order news papers, magazines besides doctors and dentists anymore? The internet probably has killed a lot of their business. But yeah, you'll want to rub your finger over the track to feel for bumps. Sometimes I rub my fingers over my head to feel for bumps after I've argued with my wife. I once got a letter in the mail from the insurance company asking about my head injury. I didn't think I had had a head injury. I looked at my wife and asked her why didn't she tell me about that! We had a good laugh about it and at least I didn't get a bill from the insurance company. So anyway, I don't remember having a head injury, doesn't mean I didn't have one, and I do have at least one letter from the insurance company asking about my head injury so maybe I just don't remember it. Oh but anyway, you may want to use an xacto knife or box cutter knife to whack off any bumps that shouldn't be there. Wait! The RBS sculpture I mean, if you have bumps on your head or other parts of your body see a doctor! Try not to injure yourself or others with the knife and don't threaten others with it either - use at your own risk. Be nice and don't be conniving! (or knifing, lol) You may also wish to sand it with like 300 grit sand paper. It might hurt if you still have hair. lol. No, I mean the sculpture tracks, not sanding your head. Anyway, the marble will probably be ok with a few not so big bumps so you just need to experiment and if the marble is bumping off the track, you might need to doctor the sculpture some or reprint it or get a better 3d printer or just walk away and enjoy life rather than fretting so much. You may wish to 3d print with a fine layer height. I've selected 0.08mm. It will take a while but may make the bumps on the track less. You may also wish to do some other things like spray paint or some sort of other smoothing technique to try to make it have less bumps - still taking about the sculpture. You shouldn't need supports unless you just want to. Yeah there's probably a few places that maybe... but whatevs.
SwirlingBrain, I'm still having trouble, what can I do, what can I troubleshoot? First, don't use a gun or other weapons to troubleshoot! Not all PeeWee marbles are the same, slightly larger or smaller even if they look the same. You might try several marbles and the ones that fall off don't use and see if they are bigger or smaller than the others or misshapen. You might also try printing the sculpture slightly bigger (a few percent) so that the marbles ride lower in the track and are less likely to fall off. Again, look for bumps in the track and whack them off or sand them off and maybe sand the whole track (you might need to make a stick with sandpaper glued to it to reach those hard to get at places. Make sure the sculpture is actually level with a level and be on the level with me and level headed is it really level? Remove any pebbles or boulders under the sculpture that might make it uneven. Make sure you don't have any leaf blowers blowing on it or that might cause the marbles to blow off. Wait for earthquakes to stop if there's an earthquake happening or if someone is banging on the table it's on, that might do it, If there's one or more TRexes outside, rolling ball sculptures are probably not a concern anymore or you may want to examine what you're ingesting. If the sculpture is upside down, that might be a problem. Do not use in temperatures above 180C or below -180C. Look for lady bugs or other insects that might have landed on the sculpture. If you are in outer space or near the center of the earth, or on an airplane or another planet or moon or other celestial object or spiritual plane, the gravity coefficient might not be OK. If you're still having trouble, have you thought of taking up swimming or horseback riding or whittling? Not recommending it, but if you do be careful and be careful, and don't blame me if you hurt yourself or others doing it or spontaneously combust if you have that super power. Maybe don't use a knife at all. How do you whittle without a knife? I don't no, improvise, but don't use anything sharp or dangerous!
Anyway, I hope you like the sculpture! Post a pic if you 3d print one - that makes me glad! See how easy it is to make me glad! One time I found a dollar and that made me glad too. You could send me a dollar and see if that makes me glad! Just kidding - or am I?
After I print it and test it I'll try to post some pics and video. [Jeopardy music plays]
John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
It's amazing to me that God loved us so much that Jesus went to the cross for us to as a stand-in to pay for our sin so that we would not have to pay the penalty for our sins. Thank you Jesus! Turn to Jesus so that you too don't have to pay for your own sins for an eternity in a place you won't like to be in. It's even worse than grammar hell of when someone notices that you used a preposition at the end of the sentence in the previous sentence but also unpleasant and even worse than a bunch of grammar na-yahtzees!
