Something new and different for mice to chew on...

This stand confuses mice.

Here's my cool story (bro).
Last Spring I spied one rather large, fat little mouse. Suspecting it was a pregnant female intent on raising pups in my space, I wanted her gone as quickly as possible.
Tried everything (except poison). Various tilt traps.. electronic-zapper.. spring killers... constructed a water-bucket gizmo.. Live-catch cages. Glue-traps.
Nothing worked. This was one smart mouse, wise to all of mankind's deceptions.
A week passed and I saw this mouse about once a day. Even midday... showed no fear. I was worried, and needed something she had never seen before. At last, inspiration struck.

Originally, I took a couple of these spring traps, and taped them up against a wall, with masking tape to hold them. Another was against a cardboard box.

Within hours, she was history. And having nipped it in the bud, I was mouse-free for a year.

Bait and place it as you normally would.
Sprinkle a few grains of Quaker Oats or some other dry, boring breakfast cereal (won't go moldy or attract insects) at the base, in case it's too stupid to raise its head and look up, and walks past it.
Reaching up for food is not normal, which is why this stand is effective.

Also, vertical traps are close to the wall, less liable to be accidentally tripped, and easier to sweep around.

I'd be interested in anyone's experiences using a vertical trap. My success may have been a fluke, but I don't think so.
