Grow a tree with your 3D printer!
Build your own custom fruit tree. Change it within seconds to have it fit to your latest fruits. Pieces snap together and the tree is stable. The fruits are hold in spirals that bend down and wrap around the fruit.
It is customize able with different branches, trunk pieces, leaves and roots. Start small and let it grow higher.
Check out how it works in this animation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pByeTKZoU_U
No support required and it also prints with small 120x120mm printer. You could also go crazy with colors with just a single extruder printer.
You can of course also use it to hold other things then just fruits.
[Update: Very slighlty increased the trunk connections tolerance. Because I tested it with a very high infill and it turned out that disconnecting is too hard with it. The updated version works now also fine with very high infill. If you like the lower tolerance version, they are in the Trunk-Pieces_Lower-Tolerance.zip now.]
Instruções
No support required, ABS with raft recommended. (Raft at least for the branches when using ABS) ABS lets the spirals bend better and pieces connect easier.
For a basic tree you need the following:
Trunk-Base.stl
Trunk-1xSlot.stl
Trunk-Crown.stl
Leave.stl x6
Crown-LeavesTop.stl
Branch-Normal.stl (or any other branch)
Root-Normal-Wavy.stl x6 (or any other root)
Branches spiral sizes are the following:
Branch-Big: apples and oranges
Branch-Normal: Pears, big nectarines and small apples
Branch-Small: Peaches and kiwis
Branch-VerySmall: Prunes and strawberries
Those fruits are just examples of sizes that fit best to give you an idea.
- Not only the trunk length can be added on, the leaves as well. 9 leaves pieces connected in a loop build the magic bracelet of torment. There is a hidden case piece that can be put in the base piece. You can just hide stuff in there or use it to put more weight at the bottom which can be helpful when you are aiming very high. It also recommended to use at least the normal length roots for stability. If you wonder how high it can get: ca 3.5m with 1kg of filament which is much higher then most ceilings.
