Easy and cheap cyclic build for VR controller. I have made it for a Meta Quest 3 controller, but it should be easy to fit in other controllers also.
Makes it much easier to control cyclic in VR. (MSFS, VTOL VR, Aerofly)
I have made three versions of the cyclic ring. 62 and 82 mm in size and a star around 105mm. I would recommend using the star. Since it gives more stability. The picture shows the small 62 mm one.
Materials used:
- Mop with fixed or adjustable handle
- Elastic band for buttons (approx 40 cm)
- 8 small screws
- 4 hook screws
- Thin wood plate (approx 39x15x0.4 cm)
- 2 pieces af wood (approx 22x2.5x1.5 cm)
- Rubber pipe/tube to hold controller. Diameter 25mm
- Small piece of wood/plastic to hold magnet
- Glue gun
- 2 strong magnets
- (VR controller grip)
- (Black paint)
Total price for me less than 15 euro. (Without the cost of the grip)
See this youtube video for assemble instructions. https://youtu.be/v1qiBn4bli0
The inner hole in the cyclic ring has a diameter of 21.5 mm.
The two screw holes in the cyclic ring neck does not need to be used.
Instead of wood you could draw and print the base i 3d. But I had some wood and screws laying around.
Guess you can also make it without using magnets, but it might be too loose.
