Gear pumps are one of the most common types of pumps used in engineering and industry. They work by trapping fluid between rotating gears and moving it from the inlet to the outlet. In this video, I show you a 3D printed gear pump that I designed and built. 3D printing allows us to prototype pumps quickly and test how well they work. One of the biggest challenges with 3D printed pumps is sealing and preventing leaks. I focused on improving the design so this gear pump doesn’t leak. It runs smoothly, moves water effectively, and shows how precise 3D printing can be. I’ll walk you through the details of the pump and how the gears work together. You’ll also see how the transparent parts let us watch the water flow in real time. This project is a great example of combining engineering, creativity, and modern technology.
