This is a recreation of the official Playdate Stereo Dock. It's designed to be SLA resin printed. Although I did not make it with FDM printing in mind, it is certainly possible. Some of the dimensions for the pin holes and USB-C port may not be perfectly accurate for FDM because the model accounts for the shrinkage of the resin.
I hope you enjoy! and remember to credit me if you make a remix or share the files!
Tips for SLA printing:
- Avoid supports on the outer shell unless you plan to sand the whole dock
- This print is very prone to warping, so use a print orientation that minimizes suction etc
Charging via the pins: With the screen facing towards you: 5v+ to the top right pin and GND to the bottom right pin
Construction: There are holes that mate the two halves together with short pieces of 3 mm aluminum rod, however, I ended up using hot glue to join the two halves
SLA Printer: Saturn 4 Ultra Resin: Siraya Tech Build
Electronics: Female USB-C port http://amazon.com/dp/B091CRLJM2?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_3&th=1 General Purpose wire to connect charging pins to USB-C Port
Metal Hardware: 1.8 mm Stainless Steel Rod for the charging pins 3 mm Aluminum Rod for the kickstand
Magnets: 20x5x2mm bar magnets (There's a cutout behind the playdate logo for these)
Paint: Rustoleum Gloss Protective Enamel Sunset Yellow (this yellow looks wrong until you put the matte clear coat on) Matte Clear Coat
