The packaging of the 2021 Heroquest really takes some getting used to. I quickly became frustrated enough to look for a clever inlay/organizer. Either my printer was too small or my patience was too short for the solutions I found. I somehow don't fancy print jobs that take longer than half a day. Since I recently printed a small Gridfinity, I wanted to try to create something similar for Heroquest. It can't be that difficult. So I quickly measured the box and all the figures/items and checked which grid would fill the box well and lose little space in the boxes. After a few attempts, I kept coming back to a grid of 29mm x 29mm. I tried to orientate myself on the dimensions of Gridfinity, but for better use of space I moved away from it more and more. Now I have a grid of 10x13 squares and can stack the squares in two levels, resulting in 260 squares in the basic game. I need about 200 spaces for all the boxes, so there's still some space left for one or two expansions. I made the subdivisions in the boxes that lie exactly in the grid as high as the boxes. If a subdivision does not fit into the grid, I have kept a few mm distance to the top edge so that the boxes can still be stacked.
For the basic game, almost every STL file must be printed once, only the following files must be printed multiple times: 3x Herofinity_2x4_Doors.stl 2x Herofinity_Grid_3x5.stl 4x Herofinity_Grid_5x5.stl
There are still some printing errors in the photos. In the version shown, no further box can be stacked on top of the box for cards and dice. This problem has already been fixed in the STL files. In the token box, the staircase does not quite fit into the compartment. This has already been fixed in the STL file. Unfortunately, I misjudged the height. The boxes are a few millimeters too high to close the box completely. If someone wants to, they can make the models 2-4mm flatter. Only with the Abominations you have to be careful, maybe they need a little wider space.
