This is a pool cue case with a chalk compartment - lined with 1mm felt (pretty cheap stuff to pickup on ebay or amazon). Whole thing cost me about £10 to print in plastic and hardware, and you end up with a unique and rugged little case. The inserts overlap the segment joints so that the inserts provide strength as well as the glued dove tails.
The make in the picture for a cue that splits in half - but it is modular, just stick more segments together.
Hardware: Paracord to make the handle (cobra knot) 9 off M4x35mm - 3 for the Hinges, 6 for the latches 2 off M4x20mm - for the handle Felt Superglue - a lot - to secure the dove tail joints in place Double sided tape (I used double width) - to secure inserts to the box, and felt to the bottom of the insert.
For the case in the picture (made of 7 segments), print: 12x Bottom Dove 24x Side Dove 1x Cent 1 1x Cent 2 2x End Seg 1 2x End Seg 2 6 x Seg 1 2x Seg Handle 3x Clip 2x End Insert 1 2x End Insert 2 8x Insert
The Dove tails and segments are a good fit, but test fit with your printer settings and scale a bit if too tight or loose before printing them all off (scale the doves, not the segments).
To Build: Glue all segments together with relevant doves and super glue. Screw hinges together. Screw in clips and bottom latches Double sided tape the full length of the case and press in inserts to top and bottom of the case Double sided tape the bottom of the inserts and press down felt. Then there is a 1mm gap around the edge of the insert that the felt can be pressed into (I used a metal ruler).
*** If you have the original download with the "divider", then no need to print, it works very well without them. ***
