Basic way of playing: The climber starts at the bottom and should reach the top without the vulcano erupting to win the game. When the vulcano erupts the game is over. Each turn the player gets a card from the stack which indicate how many balls have to be thrown into the vulcano. On a right answer to the question on the card the player is allowed to remove balls from the vulcano. With enough correct answers the vulcano is filling less quickly, giving the climber a chance to reach the top.

The original idea of the vulcano game for usage in orthopedagogy by Machiel de Klerk can be found on https://machieldeklerk.wordpress.com/2012/05/22/therapeutisch-spel-bedwing-je-vulkaan. It includes the rules and a set of questions for which cards have to be made https://machieldeklerk.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/bedwing-je-vulkaan.pdf. This documents and the questions on the cards are in Dutch, and need to be translated for other languages.

Off course you can also use the vulcano for usage in a game with your own rules!

Vulcano game requires printing (between brackets the name of the stl-file):

• 1x outside cone (vulkaan10_huis)
• 1x inside tube (vulkaan10_buis)
• 1x overflow funnel (vulkaan10_trechter)
• 22x step1 (steps on lowest level of the vulcano)
• 1x step_1_2 (step on transition from level 1 to level 2)
• 5x step2 (steps on middle level of the vulcano)
• 1x step_1_3 (step on transition from level 2 to level 3)
• 4x step3 (steps on highest level of the vulcano)
• 1 mountain climber (pop)
• Optional: vulkaan10_klep to influence the height of the overflow

So next to the printed elements you need (as shown in the movie):

• a mousetrap
• a piece of wood in which you can fit the inside and is covered by the outside (use the printed pieces to create the rigght size), mount the mousetrap on top of the wood at the right position (ball from the overflow should hit the mousetrap)
• a set of ping pong balls (around 15) for a nice eruption
• thin paper and adhesive tape (breaks when used, has to be renewed for each game played)
