A turntable project inspired by designs from other users. Print in place, no supports needed.

Description: I made this turntable that can be used for various soldering and painting projects.

Design: The turntable is compatible with the adjustable PCB soldering station made by Squinn, I also found this vice very useful for painting miniatures. It is however only compatible with the 240 mm version that I have also uploaded here. The turntable is also compatible with the locking ball and socket arm made by Alex R and is also compatible with the versatile dragon clips made by JAV3D

The turntable uses a 3d printed bearing system that snaps into place, keeping the two halves together so it doesn’t tilt or anything. It’s quite solid. The design of the bearings come from ThinkingandTinkering on thingiverse, I really like his designs and I enjoy watching his videos on youtube.

The design of the turntable is made with future upgrades in mind eg. it has gears on the side for better grip which could be used for a crank add-on. All the additions for the turntable are easy to dismount. The moving disc has these circles at the bottom which isn’t just a pretty addition, it also has a function of adding the appropriate weight so the disc isn’t too light.

I have redone most of the designs from other people from scratch so I could upload the step files for people who wish to do some quick redesigns in the future. I’ve taken some liberties on my own to hopefully improve on the existing designs, but the originals are still compatible.

Assembly:

Use the snap on things for the solder holder and adjustable PCB holder at each corner to connect them together. Notice the orientation on the image. Keep in mind the solder holder is only compatible with the 240 mm base version.

For the bearings you will need 10 cylinders arranged as shown in the image

Add the bottom of the bearing case to the base of the turntable and then place in the cylinders.

Once everything is in place snap in the top bearing case connecting the disc and base of the turntable.

For the clips, simply add the clip cylinder inside the round area of the clip.

Printing:

I used PETG for this and had no adhesion issues.

For the bigger pieces like the disc, solder holder and base I printed these in 0.4 layer height with a 0.6 nozzle to reduce time.

For all the smaller pieces I recommend printing at 0.2 layer height with 3-4 perimeters, the tolerances should be fine.

Everything is print in place without supports and the files have been oriented I have included the .step files as well, let me know if you need different file types if you wish to edit.
