I designed this spice rack because I moved into a new house and needed a solution to maximize my use of space. The rack is designed around the spice jars I had which are 52mm in dia and 72mm tall. Each cavity for each jar is quite a tight fit and this makes it hard to pull the jars out with my big clunky fingers so I added a small slide to the design so the slide can be used to pull the jar out and makes it easier to grab. The rack was designed to be minimal on materials and maximize use of space to the pieces are thin and flimsy but once it is all glued together it becomes quite rigid and strong.
For those of you in New Zealand: These are the glass spice jars that "The Warehouse" sells with the bamboo lids
There are three 3MF files. 'Spice Rack Main' is the main part of the rack and will hold 2 jars. Print as many of these as you need to create the size rack you need. Each one is designed so they are stackable but will need CA glue to hold them all together. Glue them together both vertically and horizontally to make as big of a rack as you need. My own one was 3x3 to hold a total of 24 jars once the top sections were also added.
'Spice Rack Top' is similar to the main STL except it is only 1/3rd height and is designed to form the top layer of the rack. It also holds 2 jars.
'Spice Rack Slide' is the pull-out slider for the jars. You'll need to print 2 of these for every 'main' or 'top' you print.
Things that could be improved:
The slide falls out easily once the jar is removed which can be annoying as you always have to put it back in again. I could improve this by changing it to a T-Track style of thing so it can't lift out of the rack and would need to be slid all the way out to remove it but this would mean adding extra height to each layer of the rack, and as I said.... space was at a premium and I would not have fit the number of layers of jars in my cupboard that I needed if I had done that.
You shouldn't need any supports.
