This is a simple gripper for a 9g Servo Motor.
Most pieces snap fit onto each part and don't require any other screws or parts apart from the ones that come with the servo!
This design contains the gear grippers which are together and which are split, these can be printed in different ways with different materials to achieve the video result.
Two ways to print the gripper arms: Way one - TPU and PLA mixed arms: (Needs Super Glue)
- Gear Gripper x3 (TPU)
- Gear 1 x1 (PLA)
- Gear 2 x1 (PLA)
- Gear 3 x1 (PLA)
Way two - Just PLA arms:
- Gear 1 Gripper x1 (PLA)
- Gear 2 Gripper x1 (PLA)
- Gear 3 Gripper x1 (PLA)
Choose one gripper arm design, and then print the rest in the quantities:
- Base x1 (PLA)
- Bolt x3 (PLA)
- Bolt Clip x3 (PLA)
- Gear Holder x1 (PLA)
- Servo Gear x1 (PLA)
Please ensure the models are flipped to the best and easiest printing position, which requires little to no support. The Base model should be flipped upside-down before printing with supports on. Likewise, the Gear Holder should be flipped upside-down and might need some support. The rest of the models should have a sweet spot that requires no support while printing.
Final notice: PLA is not required, but it is the only material this has been tried on, so feel free to switch it up if you please.
UPDATE: The Gear Grippers have been changed to have a connector to the Gears, this will allow for quick swapping Grippers and can be used to glue the two parts more accurately with less fail.
- Choose and test the different Gear Gripper Tolerances, ensuring they fit snugly.
- 0 Tol is personally used for the Gear Grippers as the TPU gives a snug fit with the PLA gears and doesn't require glue for quick testing. Finally, the Bolt and the Bolt Clip have been changed to make them bigger and hold the gears tighter reducing the side-to-side Gear play. The Bolt Clips are easier to handle as they are bigger and should hold the Bolt tighter.
UPDATE (23/01/2025):
- A Screw Plate has been added for the bottom of the servo motor, this is so when using the original screws from the servo, the screws can be driven into the Screw Plate to hold the Base to the servo.
- If used in your project, a similar plate can be designed for the gripper Base to attach to your arm.
