This is a little utility building (Substation? Machine house? Fronteris Pattern Utility Shed?) designed to be harmonious with GW's Fronteris-pattern buildings - by extension, also pretty harmonious with Sector Mechanicus pillars and the Bheta-Decima Generatorum Hub, to a degree. It owes a great deal of inspiration to SevenUnited's Pipeline Pump Relay, but shares no actual parts. If the scale isn't clear from the pictures, it is very roughly 60mm square x 50mm high.

Compatibility

How well does it play with existing terrain? Well... it looks somewhat like other stuff? There are (optional) pipe ports on the walls which are of the right size (25.6mm) and height from the ground (centre height at 14.5mm) that they'll marry up just right with any standard GW pipe stuff, e.g. Thermic Plasma Conduits. The outward face of such pipes is 30.5mm from the centre (allowing a little tolerance and the fact that after assembly it might not be quite spot-on), which means if you have two opposite each other they'll be 61mm apart, which should be familiar numbers - 30.5mm is the length of a single unit of TPC, 61mm is the width of a Sector Mechanicus tile. The (optional) port on the roof is of the same size, but it's at no particularly good height, sorry. If you have two of these with roof ports, they'll be the same height as each other, how about that? Other than that, there's no cunning dimensions or compatibility, sorry! For once I decided something fairly standalone was good enough.

Pre-supports

For once, I have uploaded supported versions of all files, collected into a zip file. They are the supports I used for the prints in the photos - YMMV, etc etc. I don't guarantee that I'll do this again! I'm no expert, but they turned out as I wanted and there's very few shapes, so I could reuse my supports easily.

Assembly

You will need:

• 4x pillars
• 4x walls
• 1x roof If you have chosen walls with ports, then you will also need:
• 1+ pipe ends

Walls push into the pillars from the back - this means that you'll end up with your final wall being inserted into the middle of the U formed by the rest, and pulled outward. I recommend putting the roof in dry as you line everything else up to get things aligned, and then gluing after the rest is assembled. I managed mine fine using regular fast-drying superglue, though I won't swear that they're perfectly square!

Most pieces can be mirrored to add a touch more variety. The only pieces that would show it are the ones with the Adeptus Mechanicus skull on (the icon plaque and the terminal), but they are otherwise symmetric, so why bother, and the one with the Σ4 plaque, but plenty of 40k terrain has some nonsensically-mirrored symbols, so hey, why not?

FAQ

• Why are there 2 plain pillars?
  • Because they have different bolt rotations, because I get funny about that. On the other hand, those bolt positions are shared by the other pillars, so...
• What's with the other holes on the pipe ends that I can see in your photos, but not in the models?
  • Look, I'm planning to magnetise things like an fool, but they feel very idiosyncratic to me, and it only makes sense if you have the exact same system as me (who is, I repeat, a fool), so I figured I'd let you make your own bizarre decisions if you so desired.
• The terminal keyboard doesn't look keyboard-y - where's the space bar?
  • Obviously it must not be a full alphanumeric keyboard - who knows what strange controls the priests of Mars use?
