Chuck Floating Platform Series designed to support marine activities, such as aquaculture and agriculture.

The individual floating members are derivatives and modifications of the original Wilson Floating Platform (see https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6818418). The main difference is that rather than aluminium members, marine-resistant wood (such as Borneo ironwood) is used for the structural members. The wood members should be bolted together using corrosion-resistant bolts, nuts and washers. Hollow plastic barrels are used to provide buoyancy.

The modular floating members are arranged and attached rigidly together in two main configurations, Square Node and Hex Supernode. Square Nodes have a hollow centre, allowing for the attachment of nets or cages for aquaculture in the middle. Hex Supernodes have a centre cross floating member “spars” to support large floating loads.

The Square Nodes and Hex Supernode may be tied together, either semi-rigidly with wooden hinges or non-rigidly with rope, the latter requiring the need to use old tyres as protective cushions between Nodes or Supernodes.

In this example, the Square Nodes are arranged in a pattern which allows docking of support vessels to the Hex Supernode. Other arrangement patterns may be used in this series to create repeating series of floating Nodes and Supernodes, creating water surface pens and enclosures of various shapes and sizes.
