Modelo 3D Arcade1Up Asteroids Spinner por LasVegasIRA no Thingiverse

Descrição

The OG spinner on the Aracde1Up Asteroids game is hot garbage. So, I designed this spinner to use with the original rotary encoder board. I know there's an aftermarket spinner that works with the game, and I did buy one. But it was stiff and didn't spin very well.

And since I got myself four other machines that use the same type of spinner, I felt designing a replacement that would cost less than $5 for all the materials was worth a shot.

You start by removing the old spinner assembly from the Asteroids control panel and pressing the bearing into the hole that's left. It should press in by hand without too much trouble. Only press on the outer edge of the bearing while doing this, or the bearing itself could be damaged. If the bearing doesn't go in a fairly easy manner, you may have to do a little sanding of the control panel to open the hole a bit. Once it's in, put a dab of lithium grease or 3-in-1 oil on the bearing to get it to spin more freely.

Next, screw the rotary encoder board assembly you removed from the original spinner to the newly printed bracket using the existing screws. You may want to ream the holes in the bracket to open them up a bit so it doesn't split.

Then, assemble the main spinner assembly (through the mounted bearing) in the order shown in the images, using a metal electrical box cover in place of the orange disc as a flywheel. Tighten it using some small screws and nuts.

The holes in the top and bottom pieces of the assembly should match up exactly to the metal cover. You can find the metal cover at any home improvement store or order it from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C3YDA26/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1.

Once assembled, slide the rotary encoder shaft in the hole on the bottom of the assembly and mount the new bracket in place, being careful of its placement so it doesn't rub on the speaker or get in the way of the control panel cover.

The knob will then slide on top of the assembly and be held in place with a set screw.

It's also recommended that once the main shaft is threaded onto the flywheel mount, that a hole be drill through the two and another set screw and nut added to keep them from unthreading during use.

I've built this spinner already (after many tested iterations) and the final design works great. Just realize that a little fine tuning will be needed. Also, use some foresight before drilling any holes for the bracket and make sure everything will line up without issues before committing to a location for the bracket screw holes.

When printing, use a high infill percentage.
