Modelo 3D Atomstack Bottle Opener por harmo_hammer no Thingiverse

Descrição

I saw the Atomstack challenge and thought I'd have a look at designing something both incorporates the logo in a (hopefully thoughtful?) way... and ending up with a model that is at least... theoretically useful while produceable on a variety of different machines. Which I've never done before.

This is a simple bottle opener design that can be:

  1. 3D printed without supports, either as a single material (with embossed logo), or
  2. 3D printed with multi-materials(with a different colour material for the logo and text), although I don't have the printers/knowledge how to do that yet as I've never used a multi-material printer.. the embossing would allow a single-extruder printer to shift colours at a particular layer height),
  3. Laser cut the overall bottle opener profile from flat sheet, and I intended the design to include 2d logos etched/burned (depending on the material) again... I've never used a laser cutter as I don't have access to one.
  4. Milled/CNC routed... depending on the file version.

If anyone wants to let me know how to design files for multi-extruder, multi-material prints (I assume that's done in the slicing stage?)... please let me know. Always happy to learn.. but for illustrative purposes, the included files should be fine.

Which STL should you use?

The V4 is better for metal sheeting/milled/2D cutting production techniques. The narrower "tooth" of V2 on the lower jaw fits more easily into the more tighter gaps between bottle top, and glass rim... but naturally needs a stronger material to avoid breakage/bending. V4 is an improvement over the previous versions since it features a wider tooth to offset the weakness, but it's still not what I'd consider a lasting FDM 3D printable object.

Don't worry, because here is V5.

The V5 is better for FDM printed options. (I'd still recommend a hefty increase in the number of walls/perimeters). V5 is not completely printable though. In the earlier versions, I had to balance the narrowness of the "tooth" and consider that against the material wear/strength characteristics. To overcome the inherent "plastic wearing on the sharp metal cap edge"...I instead added a 20mm deep M3 threaded socket to the V.5 model, and used a 25mm long M3 machine screw as a replacement for the tooth/jaw of the opener. That has worked really well, and would last... years.
