Bought the Catit cat water fountain for cooling down the parakeets. Do not plan to use the filter that came with it, since it will be like a one time use item, expensive. Created this to use the silk/window screen instead to filter out feathers, seed husks and bird drops. There're 2 versions, one with narrower gap, which is a bit tight for the screen I used. The 2nd model has a larger gap (not printed).

After fitted with the screen, I washed it and ran the water several days(change water daily) just to rinse out any residual chemicals (vinyl-coated polyester?). I also added some ice in the bucket for the >100F outdoor temperature. They like to lick the condensation water on the outside bucket. The manufacture for the screen I used is Phifer, bought from Home Depot/Lowes locally.
