When I snell a hook (tie to a fishing line) I would like to save it for another outing, but it is difficult to keep the attached line from tangling with other items in my tackle box. I designed a series of holders for snelled hooks. The largest hook I have is an 8/0, and the large holder should be able to hold a 9/0 or larger (if I read the hook size chart correctly). The medium holder is good for up to 4/0 hooks. The small holder is good for #1 hooks, and the very small holder is probably good for #8 or smaller hooks. I don't have any hooks between #6 and #10, so I am guessing about the capacity of the very small holders.

To use the holders, slip the leader up from the bottom on the side with the line pass-through. Pull the hook up so it is stopped by the catch in the middle of the opening. Run the line to the outside using the pass-through and down the side to the narrow part of the holder. Wrap the line around the narrow portion and hold it in place while the cover is slipped over the line.

Update (25 April 2026): All of the holders have been modified to extend the line slot to about halfway down the side, and the very small size has been modified to increase the gap between the cover and the holder. I left the original designs, all have a version number after the size. The new ones do not have a version number.
