Customizable Lightweight Masterspool (Master Spool)

I needed a spool-core that can be used with spool-sidewalls salvaged from a finished filament spool. I found this great MasterSpool by CyperTech project when searching for something ready-to-print: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4816681

Unfortunately, it was not fully fitting my requirements but I used it as an inspiration to write my OpenSCAD code that creates very similarly-looking, but customizable spool-core model. Hereby I am giving credit to the author of the original good concept.

This project can be used in three ways:

• just download, slice and 3D print pre-generated STL files (ready-to-print models),
• generate your own models using provided OpenSCAD file (customizable-masterspool-torwan.scad), you can easily customize the default model to your needs by changing values of the parameters listed at the beginning of the file.
• (not recommended by me) generate your own models using Customizer enabled here in this project by Thingiverse, change value of what_to_generate parameter to decide what part exactly you want to generate (this customizer unfortunatelly does not allow to modify "boolean" parameters):

  • 4 - Sidewall Small Inner Ring
  • 5 - Core Filler
  • 6 - Presents a whole Spool
