A quick mount for the included ruler to the mast of the laser so you can use it as a focus tool but still remove the ruler for off machine work.
There are 3 STL files, two holders and a pointer. The "low profile" holder is to allow the head to move all the way up, it's a little stiffer to install so I found the best configuration is one of each of the brackets, the low profile one on top.
Update: There are now 4 files, the 'no passthrough' holder will not let the ruler slide through, fits a little tighter and is wider so that it is less likely to slide on the support arm. Using it as the bottom one allows you to slide the ruler up so that a common number, say 100, is zeroed at the marker when the laser is in perfect focus to the bed, then all you have to do is add the height of the item you are marking to 100 and poof, no need to use the laser focus or nothin'. :) For added stability you can print an additional one to put under it so it's even less likely to move on the arm.
I was looking for a place to store my ruler and also was in need of being able to quickly manipulate my focus to specific mm above or below and figured I would take care of both with this quick little design. I printed two of the holders, one for the top and one for the bottom and a pointer that I fixed to the laser head using 1" square of double back tape. The ruler holders are super easy to take on and off but should produce a repeatable "install" every time you use the ruler detached from the laser.
If you have any enhancement ideas or special needs drop a note and I will see what I can do.
