3D model Skateboard Clip-in Mount for Topeak Bike Rack by PerpetualUselessness on Thingiverse

Description

I wanted a better way to carry my board to and from my local skatepark so I developed this clip-in mount. It is fitted to the side rails on my bike rack which is a Topeak brand. This design could be modified for other bike rack systems.

Once the trucks are clipped in, I strap the board to the bike rack with some bungees so it won't bounce around. It leaves enough room for my bike bag in case I want to carry anything else too.

The mount is printed in PLA and made from 4 separate parts that are then zip tied together. Over all, I'm really happy with how it came out. I have been experimenting with printing and designing parts in an orientation that will make them stronger. That's why there are 4 parts that are assembled.

The two plates that form the body are attached to the bike rack with Zip-ties that wrap around the vertical metal bars by going through the 3d prints. The hooks are also attached with Zip-ties, although they don't wrap all the way through. Instead, I cut the head of one zip-tie off and use it on the end of another zip-tie for a strong connection that doesn't require the zip-tie to return onto itself. This design uses 11 zip-ties in total.

All of the parts are printed in PLA without supports. The hooks are only 2 wall thick with a 25% gyroid infill and I am surprised how firm they are.
