31/03 not sure if you're aware, there is a v2 of this sword in my designs, better grips, 2/3 other blade designs and a few more pummels. working on a v3 because I'm really bored whilst job searching.

23/02 So so so, in the almost 2 months since I designed this, i've learned well one: how to level my bed properly, but also make spiral patterns on grips. also how not to make broken STLs so may or may not delete this one, but will be making a v2 version over the next few weeks as I still want a claymore sized sword, because why not. and I'll do an update of this sword, and a selection of customisable grips/pummels/guards etc so you can make your own.

Hello technically this is my 3rd sword (my reverse blade katana is taking longer to cut up to fit on the build plate than i thought. so printed this idea first).

So I love the idea of swords, and love the look of long swords, then i heard about hand and a half swords which are just long swords but longer, but not like stupidly big like double handed behemoths.

This is a segmented simple sword, i'm not good enough for fancy crossguards or pummels yet, so have provided my little tool to use to cut out the core so you are able to design and make your own if you like the blade.

The design has a channel running up the center of the sword with space for 2x 12mm wooden dowels to run up the center to give the sword a lot more strength so it shouldn't flex or break, if you're just doing this for display and not swinging about I have provided 12mm peg stl which you can just glue into place between the sections.

So. Long Sword (length 83cm) - 1x Tip, 5x Blades, 1x Guard, 2x Handle, 1x Pummel Hand and a Half (length 110cm) - 1x Tip, 7x Blades, 1x Guard, 3x Handle, 1x Pummel

I added in my first design of Sword_Pummel_Rounded which i think is actually better but I will probably upload a few more before i get around to gluing and painting,

I haven't decided which one i prefer yet, probably 'hand and a half' as I have Kenshin's Katana coming next, then a more detailed version of the Ashitaka Sword (as I have learnt how to bend shapes with the katana so can finally make the correct pummel). and then maybe a roman styled sword after haven't decided.

EDIT it took one day and have gone with the Hand and a Half size with the rounded pummel, it just feels right. now time for gluing, sanding, filling, sanding, painting, sanding, painting then i'll update the picture.

15/11/24 So i'm terrible at self promotion, so only realised that only my latest posts have any info about this, but many people asked me if they could request models or if i had a patreon, so I went out and made one. I'm still amazed that I get tips from this website as I've done all of these because I want to make them, and as I get better at modelling I scrap what I've made and make it better.
