Descrição

Robot Security Camera ============ Guard against criminals with this cute DIY security camera. Your kids can join in the fun of making something functional too.

Parts and equipment you'll need

  1. Disposable Coffee Cup with upper diameter of 70mm (for body)
  2. Empty match box (for head)
  3. Googley eyes, foil, paper and glue to decorate and make robot parts.
  4. Raspberry Pi 0W
  5. Raspberry Pi Camera Module for Pi 0W
  6. Appropriate ribbon cable that comes with the camera module
  7. Header pins (2) or wire
  8. Soldering iron and solder

Instructions and tips

  1. Get a little person to help you make a cute/cool robot from a disposable coffee cup! (actually, this IS the FUN part, so TAKE YOUR TIME AND ENJOY IT and don't even worry if you can't do the rest!
  2. Print the lid file from PLA (this forms the base which holds the raspberry pi
  3. Cut the micro usb plug off raspberry pi power supply (the plug won't fit inside the coffee cup because it sticks out at 90 degrees and is to long)
  4. Measure the voltage with a multimeter and place some sticky tape on the positive wire.
  5. Thread the wires through the hole in the 3D printed lid.
  6. Knot the cable at the hole to prevent it pulling on the solder joints.
  7. Solder header pins on pins 2 and 6 (layout diagram included in the pics here) (header pins will prevent the pads from being ripped off accidentally.
  8. Solder the positive 5.25V lead to pin 2 (or 4 but pin 2 is easier)
  9. Solder the negative lead to pin 6 (ground pin)
  10. Open the connector and attach the ribbon cable to the Pi 0W and the camera module (always with the metallic tracks mating with the circuit board surface)
  11. mount the Raspberry Pi 0W in the base so that the memory card is accessible from the hole
  12. Sit the the robot body (coffee cup) on top of the lid and press it down - should be a perfect fit - with ribbon cable folded up the side of the cup and camera stuck to outside (Just be careful to not short circuit anything out on the foil - use sticky tape as needed).
  13. Use Balena Etcher or SD Card Formatter to burn the MotionEyeOS image to the SD Card
