Instructions and tips
- Get a little person to help you make a cute/cool robot from a disposable coffee cup! (actually, this IS the FUN part, so TAKE YOUR TIME AND ENJOY IT and don't even worry if you can't do the rest!
- Print the lid file from PLA (this forms the base which holds the raspberry pi
- Cut the micro usb plug off raspberry pi power supply (the plug won't fit inside the coffee cup because it sticks out at 90 degrees and is to long)
- Measure the voltage with a multimeter and place some sticky tape on the positive wire.
- Thread the wires through the hole in the 3D printed lid.
- Knot the cable at the hole to prevent it pulling on the solder joints.
- Solder header pins on pins 2 and 6 (layout diagram included in the pics here) (header pins will prevent the pads from being ripped off accidentally.
- Solder the positive 5.25V lead to pin 2 (or 4 but pin 2 is easier)
- Solder the negative lead to pin 6 (ground pin)
- Open the connector and attach the ribbon cable to the Pi 0W and the camera module (always with the metallic tracks mating with the circuit board surface)
- mount the Raspberry Pi 0W in the base so that the memory card is accessible from the hole
- Sit the the robot body (coffee cup) on top of the lid and press it down - should be a perfect fit - with ribbon cable folded up the side of the cup and camera stuck to outside (Just be careful to not short circuit anything out on the foil - use sticky tape as needed).
- Use Balena Etcher or SD Card Formatter to burn the MotionEyeOS image to the SD Card
