Have you ever wondered why they put the darn spool mounts on the back of the Replicator 2? Have you ever wondered why the clips for the spools are so tight? It's a nightmare to change the filament on these awesome machines, especially if they are on a shelf or desk with limited space. This clip-on quick-change front spool mount fixes all that! It allows easy, quick, no fuss changes of the filament FROM THE FRONT without having to move the Replicator 2!

Download the .obj file and load it into your software of choice (MakerWare, Replicator G, Skeinforge...) and print it.
The one you see in the picture was printed in 4 hours using yellow PLA in draft mode (infil 10%, number of shells:3, layer height 0.34, temp: 230C, 80mm/s while extruding, 150mm/s while traveling) I strongly recommend using a raft but supports aren't necessary.

Once printed, separate the part from the raft then hook the lip on the top back of the spool mount on innermost lip of top front piece of the steel case of the Replicator 2 and rotate the mount down over the front of the Replicator 2, then slide it as far left as it will go. The spool support MUST rest against the left edge (or right edge if you mirror it) edge of the front of the machine, if not the weight of the spool will bend the mount and the spool may bind which could ruin a 3D print.

Remove the plastic filament feeder tube from the back of your replicator and feed it through the two holes in the spool mount. It will be very tight, you may want to reem the holes out with a 1/4" drill bit but I found that wasn't necessary. Be firm but patient.

Once the mount is attached, supported partially against the front of the Replicator 2, and the tube is in place, you can now quickly load and change spools of filament without moving or having to access the back of the Replicator 2.
