Variable speed resin mixer
I needed a resin mixer that wouldn't introduce air bubbles while mixing.
Materials: (2) 300mm - 20mm x 20mm extrusion (2) 275mm - 5/16-18 threaded rod (6) 5/16-18 lock nuts (8) 5/16-18 nuts (2) 5/16 washers (4) 608-2RS bearing (4) rubber O-ring ID-1.5", OD-1.875", Section-.1875" (1) 280mm 2GT-6 synchronous belt (1) ZGA37RG DC 12V 200RPM Gear Motor (1) 1803BK motor speed controller (1) 57-PJ10 panel mount power jack (13) M5x8mm Button head screws (13) M5 tee nut (4) M3x10mm button head screws (4) M3 washers (2) M3x16mm button head screws (1) M3x8mm button head screw (3) M3 nuts (4) rubber bumpers 12 volt 1 amp power supply Assorted wire Thread lock or super glue Tape
Notes: M3x10mm screws are used to secure the motor to the front wall, this is also how you tension the belt. M3x16mm and nuts are used to secure the drive pulleys to the threaded rod. M3x8mm and nut are used to secure the motor pully to the motor shaft. Wrap a little tape around the threaded rod so it fits snuggly into the bearings. Use thread lock or super glue to secure the nuts after roller alignment. You will need to manually notch the extrusion so the wires can run in the bottom channel. The tolerance between the belt and pulleys is tight special attention is required to make sure they mesh properly. I originally designed this to use a 300mm belt but could not get enough tension for it to mesh properly. Also, a few drops of oil on the belt helped.
