Descrição
This is a design inspired by the Magnagrip by Thunderhead. I believe I have made several improvements that are worth sharing with the community.
Features:
-Requires only 6 button magnets and a couple fender washers for hardware. -Allows smooth rotation of miniature without removing from base -Store additional washers (which are stored for later use) or other items in the base which also adds weight for added stability -Miniatures are temporarily secured to a metal washer during painting using blue tack or any other removable fixative. -Magnets hold miniature and rotating pedestal firmly to the base -Miniatures can be quickly removed and replaced by another during batch painting -Bottom storage cap is removed with the use of a washer or coin -Hand supports allow more precise application of paint
Assembly:
- print all parts
- screw bottom cap onto base (place some washers inside if you like)
- slide one of the hand support arms into the top slot of the base
- screw the top cap onto the top of the base
- glue a large 1.5mm thick washer to the top surface of the top cap and allow to dry
- install six button magnets (2mm x 11mm maximum size) or (1/16"x1/4") into the slots of the raft
Magnets available at this link: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Magcraft-Rare-Earth-1-4-in-x-1-16-in-Disc-Magnet-80-Pack-NSN0657/204721317
- place the grooved retainer ring onto the raft which will capture the magnets NOTE: this assembly should fit tightly and have a flat surface at the top when combined
- use a thin glue to adhere the retainer ring to the raft and allow to dry
- place the raft/retainer ring assembly onto the top cap/washer assembly
- use blue tack or hot glue to temporarily hold a miniature to a washer
- place the miniature/washer onto the top of the magnetic raft
- feel the joy and satisfaction of magical magnetism and smile
