Repair for the hinge on the bin of a Dyson DC23 vacuum cleaner, with purple cyclone head, Australian market. I am not sure if this fix applies to other Dyson models.

3 parts to print 4 of M5 x 20mm long bolts and nuts 1 x m5 bolt (or metal rod), to used as the pin for the new hinge

I used 100.5% scaling on Cura to ensure printed size as per the model

See pics in Custom section below First prepare the original Dyson to accept the hinge repair:

1. Cut off any remaining pin/s from the original Dyson barrel hinge part, this will allow the new hinge to fit.

2. Trim the Bin lid with a straight cut - also remove the seal during the cutting process. This trim is optional, but will allow the lid to open to it's maximum.

With printed parts:

3. To determine the cut length of the hinge pin, take the printed Barrel Hinge part and put the m5 bolt (or rod) through both the hinge holes and allow an extra 2mm. Cut the m5 bolt to this length. Cut so that there is only the shaft of the bolt, discard the bolt head portion.

4. Assemble the printed Barrel hinge and Lid Hinge with the newly cut hinge pin.

5. With the original seal in place, push the Lid and the Barrel together, in the closed position as it would be in normal use.

6. Position the hinge assembly on top of the barrel, so that the hinge sits into the recess where the original hinge was located.

7. Position the Lid hinge part, so the the level surface lines up with the flatted part or the original lid (see pics)

8. Drill Holes through lid and fix m5 bolts and nuts through those holes.

9. With the Barrel hinge in position, drill the fixing holes. Fit the m5 bolts and nuts, using the printed Inner block between the nuts and the barrel inner surface.

One disclaimer is the lid does no open as much as the original, I'll fix this if I do a redesign
