This is a mini project of an electric drawer. Design and build/ made by MT. Parts are designed by Solidworks and coding by Arduino.
This mini-project was inspired by my friend's DIY secret drawer. His drawer has a physical internal locking mechanism, which cannot be opened easily. Then, I come up with an idea, make a secret electric drawer, which will automatically open the drawer only by pushing the hidden button. Thus, by the characteristics of the stepper motor, it can "lock" the drawer.
At first, I was thinking of worm gear set up. Yet, by considering the opening speed and the chance of being user-friendly ( still can open without power). I switch the design to a rack and pinion mechanism. the rack and pinion was drawn/ designed to fit in the 3d printed stepper motor universal connector.
#After the printing parts, coding, and installation. There is a few problem: The grip of the gear can be improved. Noise of stepper motor Precision (Thinking of installing some end switch).
#For the default motion of electric drawer: By pushing the button
- Open slowly ~27cm
- delay for 3 seconds
- Close slowly
- wait until the button pushed (loop)
In this mini-project, you will need*
arduino / programmer Stepper motor Stepper driver (I prefer a4988) ENd switch or push button Power (5v for Arduino and 12v for the driver) Transformer(optional) 3d printed Parts (rack and pinion) Glue/ Double-side tape for installation of rack and fix of stepper motor
