Descrição
This is the whorl for a DIY Navajo Spindle, designed to fit a 1/2-inch dowel as the spindle. This is used for spinning wool into yarn by rolling the shaft of the spindle along your thigh while sitting and drafting the fiber with the opposite hand using a long draw method similar to a walking wheel or a charkha.
INSTRUCTIONS
Separately purchase a 3-foot length of 1/2-inch dowel and whittle both ends to rounded points. Slide the spindle whorl onto the 1/2-inch wooden dowel. (Note, not all 1/2-inch dowels are exactly 1/2 inches in diameter, some are a little less from shrinkage. So you may need to wrap some tape around the area where the spindle whorl will go to get a good friction fit.) Secure the whorl with tape for a friction fit, or with glue.
