Here I am again with another model kit. This is the first time that I have gone back to an older design and tried to improve on it. What started as an attempt to improve part tolerances and increase articulation eventually turned into a complete overhaul. I created more helmets and an assortment of weapons for the model. I also attempted to add more rounded "organic" shapes to the figure with one exception: the hips.

That balljoint design was so problematic for me either printing too tight and requiring a lot of sanding or too loose and requiring a lot of super glue and floor polish, even when printing the exact same file. It ticked me off a lot. The handful of Cyborg Soldiers I have printed can barely stand now. So, early on in my reworking process I decided to shelve the ball joint hips for now with a more reliable if more mechanical looking design, at least until I figure out what went wrong. The included pictures will hopefully be explanatory enough on how to assemble the new hips.

During the overhaul phase of my design process I also decided to change up which other model kits were compatible with my model, based on what I was collecting at the time. Later I might go back and make more cross-compatibility parts but this might take some time as every mecha musume model company seems to want to make their figure bodies incompatible with each others' in some way which is fair, but makes things more difficult for kitbashers like myself.

The Cyborg Soldier Version 2 was designed with a focus on simplicity, durability, and ease of printing.

Joints are achieved through a system of 3mm pins that give just enough friction while also easily removed with pliers (for maximum strength, print these so that the long side of the pin is parallel to the build plate).

3 millimeter ports on the arms, legs, and back allow for cross compatibility with most other model kit accessories.

Depending on your printer and plastic, some light sanding and/or tightening of parts may be required. Tightening may be done via thin layers of super glue or multi-surface floor polish.
