Why ?
When playing Eclipse, especially at the beginning of the game and when using extension for 7+ players, it is difficult to maintain the relative positions of the hexes so I planed to make an holder.
Incomplete net:
Note that this thing isn't conceived to make a plain net : it is impossible to make an net without holes due to the conception of the elements. Each element has 4 segments that cover 5 intersections: 3 between 2 segments and 2 at the end of a segment. In the full net each intersection has 3 segments that converge. So each elements bring 3 intersections that need one more segment to be completed but only 2 end that can fill them. All intersection will not be full so the net itself will not be complete but it isn't a real trouble as it only need to be complete enough to hold de hexes.
As long as the system is solid enough to hold the hexes in place, having a incomplete net is convenient because it save some material, place and print-time.
How many ?
12 as shown one the picture is insufficient, 20 or 24 could be... To be tested !
How high ?
Base thickness and wall height are both 1.5mm (in brown). You can scale down it a bit : 1.2mm (in purple) seem to work fine but 1mm (in blue) seem a bit too small !
File:
The objects named "lime" (french for file) are here to help finishing the elements by sliding them into to eliminate unwanted excrescence.
Storage:
I also add a object to store the element together.
