Just something to squeeze toothpaste out of the far end of the tube.

One day I realized different people in the family kept stealing the one toothpaste squeezer in the house and the free ones we'd gotten somewhere were too flimsy to work. I couldn't bring myself to spend more money at a store to buy such a thing, so kludged this one together in maybe half an hour. At the time I don't remember seeing a lot of designs on line for them.
