Modelo 3D Tiny Treasure Chest por juewei no Thingiverse

Descrição

This a very small lasercut treasure chest. Inside dimensions are 41 mm x 26 mm, and 20 mm down the chest, plus ca. 10 mm extra height up in the middle the lid.

Made from 3mm plywood. All pieces are nicely mounted in one 80 mm x 116 mm board with 0.5mm connectors for easy break away.

Green is for text (can be ignored) Red is for normal cut lines, Dark red is the perimeter line, that should be cut last.

Update: Slightly larger version added: Treasure_Chest_68x46.svg has inside dimensions of 62 mm x 40 mm with 30 mm height in the chest, and 15mm in the lid. It comes as a 173 mm x 120 mm board.

CAD screenshots added that show the suggested assembly process.

  1. Build the box. Glue only three sides to the bottom, leave the 4th side free, so that the lid can be mounted later. As always: use very little glue. Every excess should be cleaned immediately.
  2. Identify three different types of boards: two boards with cut-outs at the ends, four normal boards, and one with extra mounting holes for the handle.
  3. Build the frame of the lid by gluing two boards to the ribs. The rib with the handle goes on one side of the ribs on the lowest position. One of the boards with cut-outs goes to the other end of the ribs. Orient the board so that the cut-outs are at the bottom.
  4. Before the glue is fully cured, fit the frame of the lid onto the box. The end of the cut-out board are the bolts that meet the hinges of the box.
  5. Adjust the geometry of the lid so that it fits evenly and opens smooth.
  6. Glue in the 4th side of the box. Take care that no glue goes into the hinge or touches the lid.
  7. Add the missing bars. The other one with the cut-outs goes next the hinges, in the same orientation. The four normal boards fill the roof. Should the inner edges of the boards collide, use some sanding paper to trim the inner edges.
  8. before the glue is fully cured, test the movement of the lid. Observe that the teeth of the lid fit into the front corners of the box smoothly and that the lid closes evenly.
  9. finally add the sides of the lid. Take care that no glue enters the hinges.
