I have a FlashForge Creator 3v2 Its a fantastic machine. Its placed at the entry level of industrial printers as it can get to about 300C at the extruder and a bed temperature of 120C. This is very useful if you want to print in ABS or CF nylon or a bunch of other engineering plastics.

However there is a design fault in this machine, and that is you can't turn off the cooling fan as its an integral part of the extruder cooling control. it has a little duct to blow down on to the bed. this duct isn't movable or controllable in any way.

A few people have made airflow "re-directing" parts that require altering the printer.

So after some thought and anxiety about altering the machine. I came up with a really simple, low profile clip on “blocker” that’s removable in seconds.

It’s really easy to make. I did it in the kitchen last night.And ran a nylon (PA6 CF) print over night. The finish was so much better than having the fan port open.
I started with carboard to get the shape right then cut up an aluminum can. A little fiddling around and you will be able to form the locator that clips into the fan shroud. I used a 2mm piece of wire. After you bend it into shape just a little CA glue to hold the folded part down, it also makes it a lot stiffer.

This cover isn’t side specific and can be used on either side so you can use the machine as it was designed or add the cover to either or both fans.

I hope this solves some of the (Fan off) problems we are all likely to run into.

Anyway that was the first step. as you can see i have taken it a little further and made a printable version. this is made from PLA to get it right do some testing.

I recommend CF Nylon Or FG Nylon or any other filament that will be able to handle a little heat. as you probably realise there is a fan blowing on the back of the part so PLA might be okay here.
