A simple model designed to help visualise the doppler effect. If a force is applied between the centre and the outer ring, the springs between the rings will stretch and compress, allowing the rings to move closer and further apart, modelling sound waves eminating from a point.

Even if it's not a very useful teaching resource, it is a lot of fun, as it is very bouncy :)
