Recently my brother's laptop fell in the bath while watching netflix. So I thought of something firmer to use as a bathboard. A standard board lays on the edge of a bath and can easily slide off.
I came up with an idea to make a bathboard with molded feets that hold the board in place and can't move while using or bumping into it. I made this by the following steps:
- To replicate the perfect curvature of the bath, I used my 3D pen to sculpt the edge.
- I took a picture off the result and imported it in fusion 360.
- Then I recreated the curve with a spline and made the feet out of it.
If you don't have a 3D-pen, this molding process can easily be done with some oasis foam. I added the step files so you can edit the design to match with your bath, but it will not be a perfect match. Leave a comment if you'd like that I make a video of the sculpting process.
needed tools:
- screwing machine
- woodsaw
- 3D-pen or oasis foam, clay, plasticine,...
needed mechanical parts:
- 2x wooden planks: width 95mm | thickness 17 mm (thinner is possible, but use shorter screws)
- 8x 4,5x25mm woodscrews
- 4x 4,0x20mm woodscrews
- 4x Ø11mm anti-slip bumper
Future modifications:
- Adding a notch to insert an ipad
- Adding a insert for a drinking glass
