Haynes Bat Detector Kit - The portable case! ==============

The Haynes Bat Detector Kit is a re-design of the Franzis Kit that removes the need to do any soldering, and includes more components on the circuit board, rather than needing them wiring up.

I've based my case on this version of the kit.

It's MUCH smaller, pocket sized in fact, and replaces the speaker with a headphone socket. (The impedance should be ok for two in-ear headphones)

It needs a tiny bit of soldering to connect the speaker plug to the headphone socket. What you have to do with this is cut the speaker cable by the speaker end, and then strip a few mm away from the black cable, and 5 to 7mm from the red cable end.

If you DO NOT want to shop up your speaker cable, the wire and little socket (just the one) you need are "Mini micro JST 2.0 PH 2-Pin connector plug with wires"... search on google for them!

Then solder the black wire to the long middle plug electrode, and the red wire needs to span BOTH short electrodes and be soldered securely to them at a 90 degree angle so the wiring looks like the bottom of an L shape, to the headphone plug going straight up.

Once the case has been printed, the headphone socket can be screwed into place, and perhaps a tiny dab of super glue to hold it tight.

The same can be done on the side of the ultrasonic Mic - a tiny drop of super glue before pushing it into place.

You should take a little care with the plug-in wires for the Mic, 9V battery connector and headphone socket so they curve around the sides of the case, and don't get "snipped" in half when the case top is placed on top.

To secure the two haves of the case, I used a vice and a tiny dab of super-glue on the larger part of two halves, a drop along the borders, and a couple of drops where the large area is where the ultrasonic Mic sits. Holding them in place for half an hour until the glue sets. Glue and not screws? All the companies do it these days! It makes it a bit more water-resistant, and avoids the unsightly screw holes in the case.

Also - if you don't want to chop up your speaker cable, you'll need: Mini micro JST 2.0 PH 2-Pin connector plug with wires.
