anforme is a modular shading structure made out of laser cut 3mm mdf pieces, incorporating lighting devices and recycled plastic bottles for additional performance.

It can be used as an urban plug in to personalize, customize or appropriate urban space, but also in community or private patios, gardens, terraces, etc.

The project has been developed in a cooperative process by a team composed by Verónica Carreño Naranjo, Gabriela Massa Ascui and Silvia Sáez Iglesias with tutors Areti Nikolopoulou and Jose Perez de Lama at "The commons factory :: plug ins at santa ana" workshop, taking place october 18-25th 2010 at Absolut Lab [Fab Lab], Madrid, Spain

The piece / construction system has been designed as site specific, but we think it as well as a generic to be used in multiple circunstances

The main elements are cut with laser cutter out of 3 mm 810 x 600 mm mdf sheets. The press-fit connections in the files are dimensioned taking into account the material lost by the laser cut [Epilog Legend Ext 36x24 50 watts]. They should be tested to check if it works in the same way with the laser cutter you might be using.

Once the dmf parts are put together, the lighting and the bottles can easily installed, in the holes designed for it.

The structure is thought to be hanged form a tree or a lamp post.
