This design should allow you to switch out your cherry or cherry-clone keyswitches on the keychain without snipping any of them. If your printer has a relatively fine resolution, then the holes should be more than large enough for the contact pins and/or PCB mount pins. The keys can be removed by pressing in the side contacts, so you should never have to commit to one key in the keychain.
