Descrição

Arc generator ESD test device

⚠️ Warning! This is an electric shock device, made for experimentation! build it with precaution, print it and using this device might cause injury ⚠️

"Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is the sudden flow of electricity between two electrically charged objects caused by contact, an electrical short, or dielectric breakdown. A buildup of static electricity can be caused by tribocharging or by electrostatic induction. The ESD occurs when differently-charged objects are brought close together or when the dielectric between them breaks down, often creating a visible spark.

ESD can create spectacular electric sparks (lightning, with the accompanying sound of thunder, is a large-scale ESD event), but also less dramatic forms which may be neither seen nor heard, yet still be large enough to cause damage to sensitive electronic devices. Electric sparks require a field strength above approximately 40 kV/cm in air, as notably occurs in lightning strikes. Other forms of ESD include corona discharge from sharp electrodes and brush discharge from blunt electrodes."-Wikipedia

I decided to design and build my own 3D printed ESD arc generator version with a charger which will cost you less than 10$ if you have a 18650 Li-Ion battery from an old laptop.

All the parts to build one are included in the following list with supporting images from the build process

Parts list

  • 3 M3*15mm Allen screws for the charging part
  • 3 M3*20mm Allen screws for the Top part
  • DC 3.7-6V To 400KV Boost Step Up Power Module High Voltage Generator Get it here.
  • Mini Round Black 2 Pin SPST ON-OFF Rocker Switch Button Get it here.
  • Momentary OFF ON Push Round Button Get it here.
  • Momentary OFF ON Push Round Button Get it here.
  • TP4056 18650 Li-Ion charger Get it here.

If you don't have these parts around

Some tools I use

Instructions

  • Print all the listed parts.
  • I used electric plug metal parts as the arc ends and attached them to top part heating it with a plier on the gas strob.(look at the attached images for reference)
  • Follow wiring diagram, be careful when soldering the wires to the 18650 Li-ion battery, they don't like too much heat so be quick!
  • don't forget to use the shrink tubes on the switches
  • I use 2 switches as safety feature - 1st to switch it on\off the 2nd to trigger the Taser and avoid accidents
  • use the Allen screws to attach the charging part and the top part

Hope you enjoy to build one, please share your makes ❤️
