Why design this Bowden coupler fix

I was really annoyed about failing Bowden pneumatic couplers on my Ender3. Had to replace them quite often and have seen some of my project fail because of the pneumatic couplers. The metal lips worn out or the lips grind in the PTFE tube. This is even worse if the extruder have to do a lot of retractions. The pneumatic couplers are not designed for 3D print applications. So I designed this stress release, this will take the force from the extruder on the coupler by holding directly on the PTFE tube.

Print instructions

I have designed 2 versions one for the dual gear extruder and one for the stock/metal extruder same print settings. The nut will fit on both of them.

Quality Have to be printed 0.16 layer height or better because the tread needs to be good quality to screw the nut on. Also make sure your E-steps are calibrated.

Print orientation Print tread facing upwards so the tread will be in good quality.

Infill Use 4 walls and at least 50% infill

Material I recommend using PETG or ABS but PLA works also

Installation instructions

-Remove the 2 screws on the right side of the extruder -Disconnect the PTFE tube. -Mount the Bowden coupler fix using 2x M3X20. -Insert the PTFE tube and screw on the nut. Just hand tight!! Don’t use a wrench! -Happy 3D printing!
