I created this setup to help me when taking photos of small objects, or still things in interior studio setup. This allow me to create elaborated light sources.
These things is a modular set that have to be assembled to get the type of light you want.
You will need one of light modifier:
- Soft light, using a single layer of print
- Square hard light guide
- Hex hard light guide
- Snoot guide
And one of the light source:
- 6 LEDs Parabolic source
- 4 LEDs Parabolic source
- 4 LEDs narrow source, use for snoot.
The Parabolic sources have LEDs holder, for 4 or 6 LEDS, and 2 versions of swrewable ring to hold the LEDS holder, a short version to use to solder the LEDs, and a longer version that protect the metalic parts of the LEDs to avoid accidental short-circuit.
All these are using 5 mm LED, better choose high lumen LED with narrow angle if possible.
The resistor will depend of your powersupply and your LED caracteristics. Use a calculator to get the right value (for exemple using http://www.ohmslawcalculator.com/led-resistor-calculator ) and solder the LEDs, the resistor and the wire to have a clean setup, do not forget to protect that from short circuit using some heat-shrinkable sleeve.
Using Dupont connector, as well as RED and BLACK cables facilicate proper and clean wiring.
Enjoy and please post your make as well as exemple of pictures done with it :)
