A friend asked for a dice jail. I had made one a year or so ago, but I've learned a lot since then. And I've been playing with OpenSCAD, so I thought I'd try making one with that. And here it is.
The d20 topper I got from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:12097 Everything else is completely my design.
The OpenSCAD code to create this isn't very complex. My code could stand some cleaning, but it works. With just a bit of work, it could be easily made to be adjustable in many ways: height, diameter, bar thickness, rim height, number of bars, and probably a few other things. Also, I made it a round circle; it could be more angular, like 12-sided or 20-sided. I had originally started with it 24-sided to match my original jail from last year. That's just another parameter... (the roundness of the circle is just 256 sides being so small you can't really tell)
Now that I've printed it, I probably would adjust it to make it thinner in a number of places. I made everything way to thick. And overall a couple cm taller than I really intended. It looks nice, but it's huge (14cm to the top of the die, 8cm in diameter). Plenty of room for misbehaving dice.
